Surf For A Cure!
On August 9th from 10am-12pm at Phillip’s Beach in Deal, NJ, all surfers are invited to participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Sure for a Cure Event hosted by Summa Love Surfing & Yoga. Participants will surf for a cure in honor of Bobby from Howell, NJ and Logan from Ocean Township, NJ. All funds raised will directly benefit New Jersey Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and are tax deductible.
Surf for a Cure is a one-day event where surfers are encouraged to ask friends and family to either make a pledge per wave they are able to catch in a two- hour time period or a flat donation. The total number of waves per participant is recorded during the event then surfers have a week to return to their sponsors to have them complete their donations online. If an individual raises $50, they will receive a t-shirt. An ice cream party is rewarded to teams that raise $600. Please make all donations at: http://events.lls.org/pages/nj/summalove. If you wish to write a check, please make it payable to “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society”.
Blood cancers do not discriminate by race, wealth, income or social standing. Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes, someone loses their battle. In 1955, leukemia was deemed to be 100% fatal. Today, there is over a 90% cure rate for leukemia. Despite this remarkable progress, leukemia is still the leading cause of cancer death in children and young adults under the age of 20. Surf for a Cure is a great opportunity to help in the battle against blood cancers like leukemia.
